About Maxwell Deter:

Maxwell Deter is a New York City,  East Village born artist, sculptor, designer and Mask-Maker who has shown work in Milan, Art Basel and multiple NYC group shows over the years. His masks are made from found materials and upcycled fabrics from secondhand stores and old garments.

Each mask character is one of one and  comes to life through the process of the material itself. Most times, Deter does not know what he plans to create until the materials are in front of him. The artist prefers to work with bright colors and organic patterns, using them to create vivid contrast that further exaggerates each masked character’s personality.
